How to Make a Rag Denim Quilt : Size & Material for a Rag Denim Quilt

Hi, in this series Linda and I are making
a cascading brick denim quilt. We’ve made a queen sized quilt which is actually 90 X
90 in size. It is made of denim jeans as well as denim fabric that we got from the store.
The idea for this quilt came from a friend giving me a whole bunch of old jeans. So we
decided, what can we do with the jeans and we came up with the idea of making a quilt
out of them. As you can see, we put the seams to the outside as opposed to the inside. So
actually we get the ragged effect or a fuzzy effect on the outside. You will see that there
is also four colors. We’ve used dark denim, medium light denim, a dark light denim and
a light denim. Actually, you will see 450 bricks in this quilt on the top side but in
actuality you are going to find out that we cut 1350 bricks to make this.

  1. you should be able to get denim fabric at any fabric store (Joann's, Hancock's, etc.) It comes in different weights 🙂 i don't see why you couldn't use jeans and/or jackets for all of it though ;o)
